The Finale

On Sunday the 16th July 2000, Charlie climbed his final Munro of Ben Hope, arriving at the summit trig point at 4.15pm to give him an exact finishing time of 48 days 12 hours and 0 minutes.

This took 2 days 21 hours and 22 minutes off the previous record, including seven more Munros and swimming to the island Munros, a new record in itself. The final statistics stand at 2.33 miles of swimming, 764 miles of cycling, 893 miles on foot and 411,717 feet of ascent.

Charlie would like to extend his sincerest thanks to everyone who helped him along the way, making the whole adventure so special and the new record a reality, especially family, friends, club mates and sponsors. Also the previous record holders Andrew Johnston and Rory Gibson for inspiration and not forgetting the summit bottle of whisky- true champions indeed!!
